Bungie names this code but does not publish the wording it prints on screen, so we quote only the code itself: PLUM. Any site showing you an exact message for it has written one.
People land on this error while searching whether the service is down. It is not. This code cannot be produced by an outage, so no amount of waiting will clear it.
Bungie's description is one sentence: “BattlEye has detected a problem with your computer that may be in violation of Bungie's Terms of Service.”
That is the anti-cheat driver, not the game and not the servers. Consoles never produce this code.
Nothing to tell apart. PLUM cannot be caused by a Destiny outage, so if you arrived here from a search for whether Destiny is down, it is not — at least not for this reason.
Operator documentation: help.bungie.net. Bungie documents its error codes in a public directory of over 300 articles. Those articles describe causes and fixes and never quote the in-game dialog, so neither do we.
