On screen: Lost connection to the game server, please reconnect. (Error Code: 277)
This one genuinely goes both ways, so the first job is telling which you are looking at.
The persistent UDP connection between your client and one specific game server has dropped. That server is a single process running one instance of one experience, not Roblox as a whole.
Ranked by how often each is the real cause: the instance you were in crashed or was shut down; a script in that experience errored or ran out of memory and took the server down with it; packet loss or blocked UDP on your side, with a VPN being the most common culprit on PC; or a phone switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
Join a different experience. If that works, the problem belongs to the experience you were in and its developer, not to Roblox. If 277 follows you everywhere but a second device on the same network is fine, it is your device. If it follows you everywhere including on mobile data, check the Roblox status.
Operator documentation: en.help.roblox.com. Roblox's own article says the error occurs “when the client application servers fail to establish a network connection” and offers three steps: reinstall, clear AppData, call your ISP. That is the same template they publish for several unrelated codes. The breakdown above reflects what actually causes it.

Start with: Join a different experience. This is diagnosis, not a hopeful retry. It tells you within a minute whether anything on your side is worth touching.
