Roblox's explanation: error code 403 occurs when the Roblox client application launched from the website fails to initialise properly.
Technically this one stands apart from the rest. It is an HTTP 403 from the website rather than a game disconnect, and unlike the other codes here it does not appear in the engine's disconnect list at all. The web layer refused the request.
In practice that means stale cookies, a VPN or proxy, a DNS filter, or an IP that Roblox's protection layer does not like.
Does the app work while the website does not? Then it is your browser — cookies or an extension. Is it 403 everywhere, app included? Then it is your IP, your network or your region, and changing browser will not help.
Operator documentation: en.help.roblox.com. One thing to know about Roblox's own articles for this family of codes. We compared them and the sections after “select your operating system” are byte-for-byte identical across codes 264, 266, 268, 277, 279 and 280 — the same reinstall, clear AppData and call your ISP sequence. Only a one-to-three line paragraph differs. So the official answer is close to the same for six unrelated problems, which is why the causes below matter more than the steps. Roblox embeds that same operating-system block inside this article too, despite 403 being a web-layer refusal where reinstalling changes nothing.

Start with: Clear cookies for roblox.com and sign in again. The most common cause and the quickest fix. A stale session cookie produces a clean 403.
